After searching for over three months, South King Fire announced this week that it has appointed Ryan Woodey to be its new fire chief.
Woodey formerly served as Deputy Chief for the Kirkland Fire Department.
He assumes leadership of the fire district responsible for providing fire suppression, emergency medical services and other emergency response functions in Des Moines, Federal Way and surrounding areas of south King County.
According to South King Fire, Woodey’s role carries responsibility for protecting life and property across the service area and guiding the department’s operational and strategic direction.
The agency said Woodey brings experience serving communities in King County and a focus on leadership, safety and community risk reduction.
“Please join us in the comments below by giving a warm ‘South King Welcome’ to Chief Woodey,” the agency said in a statement. “We look forward to this next chapter under his guidance.”
