Mt. Rainier High suffered its first loss of the season Friday night, Sept. 18 as the Tahoma Bears defeated the Rams 40-13 in a league football matchup in Maple Valley.
The loss dropped the Rams to 2-1 on the season, while Tahoma improved to 2-1.
The Bears took control early, scoring 12 points in the first quarter and 8 in the second to build a 20-7 halftime lead. Tahoma added 6 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth.
Mt. Rainier was held scoreless in the first and third quarters. The Rams scored seven points in the second quarter and six in the fourth.
The Rams will look to rebound Thursday, Sept. 24, when they host Auburn Riverside in a 4A North Puget Sound matchup. The Ravens are also 2-1 after a 40-26 league loss to Kentwood.
Tahoma will travel to Auburn on Sept. 24 to face the Trojans in another 4A North Puget Sound matchup. Auburn enters the game with a 2-1 record after defeating Kentridge 54-13.
