The Highline College Foundation’s annual “Thunderbirds Soar” event held on Saturday night, Nov. 2, 2024 went off with a lot of sparkles in the air, as well as a coming together of community, business leaders, campus faculty and staff…and of course, students.
The evening was sprinkled with performances from songwriter and award-winning singer Sammy Vijarro and Rob “The Rockfish” Oxford. Jumping to their feet in dance – and some in costume – were a variety of staff and faculty.
New Des Moines Police Chief Ted Boe filled out a table of public safety leaders, and Sen. Karen Keiser was in the front row – as is common through her years of tireless service and advocacy of Highline College.
The event works to support educational efforts of the college through scholarships, emergency need awards and special projects.
