Even with the clouds hanging around all day last Saturday, a lot of people came to shop, and shop they did, especially at our newest vendor, Wilson Fish. Did you happen to taste that wonderful smoked king salmon, YUM! This week is National Farmers Market Week. Where communities all over the country are urged to visit and patronize their local small farmers and artisans. For a lot of the vendors, the markets are the only outlet for selling their products. Stop by and say hello and tell them how much you appreciate them being at our market. We just got the final figures from the gigantic July 20th Pancake Feed, Classic Car & Wooden Boat Show and our market. The Knights Car Club said their net proceeds will go towards supporting 25 or more families over the holidays from Midway Elementary School. The market Foundation and the South Highline National Little League Baseball League shared in the proceeds from the Pancake Feed. From the overall day, the Des Moines Waterfront Market made a donation to the city’s Waterland Festivities Fund for next year. Ok, this week I’m going to take a break from Cooking with Wine.
