REMINDER: With Sound Transit facing a projected $35 billion funding gap that could reshape the future of light rail and regional transit expansion, area residents, elected leaders and transit advocates will gather tonight – Wednesday, May 13 – for a Town Hall on the future of the voter-approved ST3 program.
The free event will run from 6 to 7 p.m. at Building 2 on the Highline College campus in Des Moines (map below).
The discussion comes as the Sound Transit Board weighs difficult decisions about project timelines, financing, and the long-term viability of planned system expansion.
Topics are expected to include the Everett and Tacoma extensions, infill stations, Sounder trips, parking investments, and broader questions surrounding how promised ST3 projects will ultimately be delivered amid mounting financial pressures and growing regional debate over transit priorities.

Opening remarks by King County Executive Girmay Zahilay and Josh Gerstman, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Highline College.
